The history of Nursing Education at Gyeongsang National University dates back to early 1926 when a training school for nurses &midwives was established by the government of Gyeongsang Nam province.
In 1947 a 3year Jinju high school of nursing high school was established as an institute attached to Gyeongsang Nam Provincial Hospital. In 1972 this school was upgraded to a collegiate level program and then, in 1979 to the Gyeongnam junior college of nursing, a 3year diploma school. In September 1983, the Department of Nursing was established as a division of the College of Medicine, Gyeongsang National University, and offered a Baccalaureate nursing program. And In March 2006 the department was established as college of nursing. Enrollment in this program began in March 1984. A graduate program in nursing was initiated in March 1996.
having both a masters and a doctoral degree program. The masters degree program has an oncology and a geriatric nursing division of advanced nurse practitioners.

The school is the central nursing education program in Gyeongsang Nam province and has made supreme efforts to play an important role in the improvement of nursing education, practices and research.
In 1994, the Department was designated amongst the top ten schools of nursing in the nation by the Weekly Newsmagazine, a famous news magazine in Korea. In 2006, the college was accreditated by ministry of Education and Resources Development.
From 1926 to 2007, the total number of graduates from this school is two thousand three hundred fifty two. The alumni of this nursing college have been favorably recognized by nursing leaders around the nation as being highly skilled, knowledgeable and well-trained. |
